Jiroubei (57), after 38 years of loyal service as a shinobi, loses his job after the death of his mistress. Taroubei (61) decides to retire after 41 years working as a constable in the city of Edo. These two men decided to give their lives to a loyal cause. Now free from their duty, a strange friendship begins between the two of them.
